Workshop: The Perfect CV (Stand Out and Get Hired)
IQUK College recently hosted a CV Writing Workshop, designed to support learners and job seekers in strengthening their employability skills and improving their chances of securing job interviews.
The workshop was designed for learners eager to develop a professional, employer-ready CV that stands out in today’s competitive job market. It was led by Shahab Ahmad, an experienced industry professional with extensive expertise in HR and recruitment, who shared valuable insights drawn from real world hiring practices.
Building the Perfect CV
The session focused on the essential components of a strong CV while addressing common mistakes that often cause applications to be overlooked by employers. Participants were guided through:
- Understanding why CVs are rejected by recruiters
- Structuring a clear, professional, and well organised CV
- Effectively highlighting skills, qualifications, and achievements
- Tailoring CVs to specific job roles and industry requirements
- Improving layout, formatting, and overall presentation
The workshop also highlighted how modern employers rely on a range of recruitment technologies, including Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and other digital screening tools, to manage and shortlist applications. Participants learned how to ensure their CVs meet current employer standards by using relevant keywords, clear formatting, and concise content that aligns with job requirements.
Interactive and Practical Learning
A major highlight of the workshop was its hands on and interactive approach. Participants reviewed real CV examples and worked on improving their own CVs during the session. With expert guidance from an industry professional, attendees received practical advice they could apply immediately.
This initiative helped build confidence and ensured participants left with a clear understanding of how to present themselves effectively in line with employer expectations and recruitment processes.
Supporting Career Development
At IQUK College, we are committed to supporting our learners and the wider community in developing essential career skills. This CV workshop reflects our ongoing focus on delivering practical, career focused learning opportunities that prepare individuals for real world employment.
The session equipped learners with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively present their experience to employers.
